2003 Catena Alta Malbec
Catena Alta CS 2003
Wine Description

Fact Sheet

100% Chardonnay sourced from the sandy soil of Lot 1 in the Adrianna vineyard. The 2001 growing season was considerably warmer than previous years, with the average ripening temperature reaching 22.6° C. Nighttime temperatures, however, remained fairly cold, with an average low of 13.7° C and an average thermal amplitude of 17.8° C, some 5° C greater than normal. The warmer day temperatures allowed for ripe fruit flavors and concentration, while the very cold nights helped increase complexity and acidity by slowing the ripening process. This vintage can be enjoyed now and will continue to improve over the next 7 years.

Tasting Notes

The 2001 Catena Alta Chardonnay offers a golden yellow color with light shades of green. The nose is rich and refined, with ripe white stone fruit aromas with notes of vanilla, citrus and flowers. The mouthfeel offers concentrated pear and fig flavors, with elements of slate and clove. The finish is long and lingering with bright, crisp acidity.
