2001 D.V. Catena Cabernet Cabernet
Tasting Notes

Fact Sheet

The Cabernet grapes sourced from lot 3 of La Pirámide Vineyard achieved excellent ripeness and balance. These vines, planted in 1983, are noted for their good canopy density and even distribution of clusters, which results in perfectly balanced fruit. This lot produces full-bodied Cabernets with intense cassis flavors.
The Cabernet grapes sourced from lot 2 of Domingo Vineyard belong to a higher mountain site with a cooler climate. Therefore, the flavor profile is mostly of ripe black berries with a mineral side and a fresh touch of eucalyptus.
The final blend, Domingo Vicente Catena Cabernet Sauvignon 2002, offers a dark purple color with light red hues. The nose is rich and complex, packed with black cherries, raspberries and cassis finely laced with violets, sweet spice, eucalyptus, chocolate and pencil lead. The mouthfeel is full-bodied, yet elegant and well-balanced, with pleasant acidity. It has a silky texture, with ripe smooth tannins that linger in a persistent finish.
