Catena Alta Malbec 2003

WINE DESCRIPTION

100% Malbec sourced from the sandy soils of the Adrianna vineyard, the sandy, clay soil of Lot 18 in the 70 year old Angélica vineyard, and the sandy soils of Lot 1 in the Altamira in La Consulta vineyard. The Adrianna vineyard saw slightly warmer March temperatures, with averages about 2° C above normal, resulting in excellent color and aromatic structure. The Angélica vineyard also experienced warmer than usual temperatures, with March averages some 2.3° C above normal, offering a generous texture and soft, silky finish. In Altamira in La Consulta the warm conditions, with March averages 1.8° C above normal, lent a rich sweetness on the mid palate. This vintage should be enjoyed in 6 to 7 years and will continue to improve over the following 12 years.
